Jakks Pacific reignited the world with an array of Nintendo toys.  While they are not the only toy manufacturers that help bring our favorite video game characters to life, they definitely brought to light many Nintendo IPs who hadn't seen some toy memorabilia in quite some time - especially here in the United States.  Outside of hosting plastic manifestations of Nintendo's bread-and-butter front man, Mario, and the rest of the Super Mario crew, Jakks' World of Nintendo line also highlighted characters from games such as The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, and Donkey Kong.  Critics of Nintendo titles will argue that newer entries into the various series are just rehashed versions of their original game counterparts.  Well hold your Lon Lon Milks, critics, Jakks will see your claim and raise you not once, not twice, but up to TEN TIMES more with their repackaging model.  (Excuse me while I go cry in the my collector completionist corner for how many times I bought the SAME figure in a variant package.)

Thanks to Jakks Nintendo Database (previously at https://jakksnintendodatabase.weebly.com/) (and currently at https://jakksnintendo.fandom.com/wiki/Jakks_Nintendo_Wiki) created by Lemmy_Toys I have finally compiled a COMPLETE LIST of every Legend of Zelda figure in the World of Nintendo collection.  This list will not include plushies, costumes, etc. purely so I can pretend they are not a part of this repackaging nightmare. 😭

I'm making an effort to update this site a lot more recently.  There's just so much Zelda-goodness and so little time!  A large, Official Crafts page has been added to the site!  These items are officially released by Nintendo through Play Nintendo.  The papercrafts include masks, backpack tags, holiday gift tags, Valentine's Day cards, and more.  While all of these items are still available in the deep depths of Play.Nintendo.com, I have gathered and preserved all of the printable media relating to my favorite Fairy Boy here on The Legend of Collections.  Downloadable files are provided on each item for your papercrafting pleasures!  While the links are still live on Nintendo's website, I have also included the original links for you to explore.

By far my favorite official crafts from Play Nintendo are definitely both of the sets of masks from Majora's Mask.  They are a great tie-in to their respective game (and aren't just some form of greeting card.)  I hope that Nintendo goes back to this method at some point in the future... but any and all bonus Zelda media is fine in my book!  Check out all of the Official Crafts HERE!

With so many Toon Link plushies out there that were officially licensed by Nintendo, sometimes it's hard to tell which ones are which. They all, for the most part, look identical! (I have had many people ask me why I keep buying the same plushie!) So here's a quick overview of the comparisons of the various Toon Links that are available (not including counterfeit ones!)

Top Row: Large Global Holdings 2012 PH Link and Large San-ei 2013 WW HD Link
Bottom Row: Small Global Holdings 2007 PH Link, Small San-ei 2007 PH Link, Small San-ei 2013 WW HD Link, and Small Jakks Pacific 2014 WW HD World of Nintendo Link

• The Small 2007 San-ei Link is the oldest of this collection. It was released in Japan and is very similar to its predecessors from Global Holdings. Major identifiers for this plush are the darker shaded felt-like fabric, jersey-fabric printed sword (double sided) and shield, felt belt and angular felted buckle, vinyl boots, light blue Phantom Hourglass tag, and a small ribbon tush-tag with lime green Japanese print.
  
• The Small (2007) and Large (2012) Global Holdings Links are North American remakes of the 2007 San-ei Link.  They are identical, except for size obviously, and in many ways are identical to the San-ei edition. The only differences are their slightly light colors, the tan Phantom Hourglass tags, and the white ribbon tush-tags with English/Spanish/French black print. 
• The Small and Large San-ei 2013 Wind Waker HD editions were originally released in Japan along side Toon Princess Zelda and Tingle plushies, which were the same size as the smaller Link plush. These plushies are noticeably lighter in color and have velvety clothing. Their boots are made in similar fabric, rather than vinyl. The shields are still printed on jersey-like material but are darker in color. They also feature the Hero's Shield from Wind Waker, rather than the Wooden Shield from Phantom Hourlgass (since each plush is representative of the differing games.)  The swords are now double-sided printed on stiffened felt. The belt buckle now features a rounded design rather than an angular one.   They both have bright blue Wind Waker HD tags and small white ribbon tush-tags with lime green Japanese print.
• The 2014 Jakks Pacific World of Nintendo plush was released alongside Mario, Yoshi, Red Pikmin, and Yellow Pikmin plushies in the US. It is by far the most vividly colored Toon Link plush available, the fabric of which almost has a neon tone to it. It too also features the Hero's Shield from Wind Waker, rather than the Wooden Shield from Phantom Hourlgass. Other differences include: polyester boots, a return to the felt-like clothing, an embroidered swirl in the belt buckle, a single-sided printed sword and shield on a fabric covered vinyl, a green World of Nintendo tag, and two white ribbon tush tags with English/French black print.

Yesterday my husband and I went out to Great Lakes Crossing for a day trip.  I was able to snag quite a few new Zelda items from Hot Topic and Spencers, a lot of which was on sale!!! ♥

The 2014 Winter Wonder Festival has shed light on more reasons for any Zelda fan to drool and reach for their rupees: The Nendoroid The Wind Waker HD Link and the announcement of the new A Link Between Worlds Figma figure.  Personally I feel the Nendoroid version of Toon Link is even cuter than the actual model for him in the game series!  As far as the ALBW Figma, I cannot WAIT until they announce what he'll look like!  I wonder if they'll follow the concept art or the game-art for him and what gear he'll have (if any.)

There was also a post concerning a concept for an Ocarina of Time Young Link Nendoroid, although here has been no word of this product existing, I love this little cute so much and would LOVE to have one!
